Nursing Apprentice

Nursing Apprentices are actively enrolled in a pre-licensure RN or LPN program and work within our health care facilities under the guidance of a nurse mentor. This pathway allows students to gain real-world experience while continuing their education and building clinical confidence.

Local Nurse Education Partnerships

Huntsville Hospital partners with local RN and LPN nursing programs, including:

Calhoun Community College

Drake State Community College

University of Alabama in Huntsville

Wallace State Community College

University of North Alabama

Registered Nurse (RN) Intern

The RN Internship Program provides a structured transition into professional nursing through a six-week (or longer) immersive experience. Interns rotate across units, working three 12-hour shifts per week alongside an experienced mentor to build foundational skills and clinical judgment.

At the conclusion of the program, nurses select a service line unit for placement and continue with unit-specific orientation. This pathway supports long-term growth, skill development, and successful integration into the care team.
